“An ounce of
performance is worth pounds of promises.”- Mae West
We live in a
world of where every single second promises are broken. We live in a time when
people treat their words lightly. We promise so many things but we didn’t keep
even one. Most interestingly we promise ourselves every year making resolution
that this will be the year I will not smoke, drink, I will leave all my bad
habits, I will start doing the good things, I will follow my dream, I will give
much time to my family, I will not tell lie and so on. But what we do, we
forget or we don't keep all our promises that we do or did. The main problem is
that when we do not keep our word, we lose credibility in the sight of
ourselves, friends, family or people.
We break the
expectations to whom we promise by not keeping the promise that we do or did.
We break the bonds of trust. And breaking the bonds of trust ultimately leads
to a string of broken relationships. Just give a short look over the course of
a week that how many untruths we tell and how many promises we make and out of
that how many we fulfill. What we say today will be held accountable for, so
don’t make promises that we cannot keep.
Vow to be
completely honest in all our dealings with others and especially with
ourselves. When we are honest to ourselves surely we will be honest to others
too. When you promise to someone that you will do something, go and do it, take
it on priority basis. If you cannot keep the promises straight forwardly say no
you cannot do. Be a person of your word rather than being “all talk and
no action.” If you want to trusted be honest, if you want to be honest be true
and if you want to be true be yourself.
